The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation has unveiled a free app for Apple and Google users that officials hope will make its 27 parks and recreational activities more accessible to the public.

“With parks from Point Pleasant Beach all the way down to Tuckerton, you are sure to find an adventure near you with the help of downloading the app,” said Ocean County Freeholder Director Virginia E. Haines, who also chairs the department on the Board of Freeholders. “This will make accessing park information much easier for our residents and visitors.”

Mobile application users are able to use features such as:

• “Find a Park” which will allow them to easily locate a county park, obtain directions, phone and park information.
• “Things to Do” to find information such as where to fish, crab, hike, and bike, or where playgrounds, beaches, and tennis courts are located.
• “Events” to view things such as special events, program guides and more.
• “Golf Course” to view information regarding the two county golf courses and set up tee times.
• “Trail Maps” which include the maps to navigate all 27 county parks.
• “Where Am I” which will have latitude and longitude coordinates of your location for hiking purposes, as well as a direct line to Ocean County Security dispatch in the event of a lost hiker.
